- Applicants for permits to drive buses are not currently required by state law to submit fingerprints.
- Tim Hull, a spokesman for the state Highway Patrol, said that in 2001, excessive speed was blamed in 43 percent of all fatal crashes involving drivers under 21.
- Another section of the bill would make it a felony to install faulty or fraudulent air bags. That language stemmed from reports from other states of crooked mechanics replacing air bags with beer cans and foam peanuts.
- Currently, the only recourse in Missouri involving fraudulent air bags is civil litigation. Attempts to pass separate legislation on air bags failed last year.
